OUR STORY.

Mission Kitchen was born two years ago, after we tried to start a food business of our own, and experienced all the obstacles for ourselves. We saw how hard it was for early stage food businesses to get their hands on the kitchen space, equipment, certifications and support they badly needed. But  it seemed like there was a simple solution.

We've seen entrepreneurs in other industries sharing space and resources to make amazing things happen. Now we’re doing the same for London’s food makers, innovators and entrepreneurs.

WHY LONDON NEEDS MISSION KITCHEN:

More people than ever are turning a passion for food into new businesses:

15,000

Food start-ups emerge into the  UK market each year.

100%

Year on year growth in registered street food businesses.

#1

More food businesses now apply for Start-up Loans than any other sector.

BUT FOOD FOUNDERS STRUGGLE TO FIND THE SPACE, EQuIPMENT AND SUPPORT THEY NEED TO GROW.

Food Founders take on a notoriously risky challenge.

In a country with steep property prices and tight credit conditions; the five-year survival rates in the hospitality industry are the worst of any industrial grouping in the UK. There are lots of start-ups but few survivors.

Yet, despite the costs and the risks, food entrepreneurship remains remarkably open to an incredibly diverse range of people. A revolution in the economics of food entrepreneurship is happening.”
— Nesta & Kitchenette,

SO SUCCESS RATES REMAIN LOW:

54%

Food start-ups fail in their first 3 years.

77%

Fail in the first 5 years.

33%

New restaurants fail in their first year.

THAT's WHY WE're ON A MISSION...
